                       AWFUL ASSUMPTIONS---IíM BACK

This is the first day of the rest of my life.  I thought I would tell you what has been going on with me and visiting about county politics and do a little advertising.  However the main thing is that the last two years have been pretty rough on me.  About a year and a half ago I was diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer and told that if I made the first of 2012 it would be a miracle.  Hmmm!  Miracles do ;happen.  I am still here.  Har,har, har.  However it takes a lot out of me learning to accept that possible fact.  The doctor tried some experimental medicine on me that made the pressures of having cancer increase.  The medication made me ill and caused me to lose a lot of weight.  It put me in a depressed mode as I was unable to do much or get anything accomplished.  So I put it all in the Lordís hands and decided it was time to stop moping around and get on with life even though it could be drastically shortened.  Iíve always maintained that the Lord makes the determination on when it is time for your demise.

On the first of March I was, as I say it, put on a termination list.  The doctor decided the treatment was doing more harm than good so he took me off the cancer medication.  I am now on Hospice.  My time, like everyone else, is unknown.

I want to thank everyone who has prayed for me and my family and kept an eye on our well being.  I have decided to try to get back to being the old Eric everyone thought was nuts even while they enjoyed reading some of my ideas.  That meant I needed to start writing some in the paper, cover some of the goings on in the county and just plain being opinionated.  So every week for the next three months I will have something in the paper.  Be sure to look for it.  I hope to discuss some of the political activities and also let you know more about what is happening at the shop.

This first week I only have a couple of items on my mind.  The first is that there is a new automotive shop in Pineville.  I hope they do well.  There is enough business in the area for them also.  Some people say I must be crazy to advertise another repair shop.  All I will say is that I think competition is good.  The second is that I would like to see some changes in our government which I want to dig into.  In other words, I am going to be a big nuisance.

That should be enough rambling but as the summer goes on it should get interesting.  I do have some news.  I am now a AAA  emergency service wrecker provider.  I am also working on a report on the dispatching of wreckers in McDonald County.

As always, you can reach me at the shop at 417-845-7117, email eric@awfulstuff.com or visit the website at awfulstuff.com.  You can also stop by the shop any morning for coffee and/or visiting at 4100 East Highway 76, Anderson, Missouri.
